About ASPA
The Alabama Service Providers Association (ASPA) is an inclusive association of providers of community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Alabama. ASPA is comprised of various ID/DD service professionals throughout the state and combines decades of experience in order to better serve the individuals receiving care.
Our Mission
ASPA’s mission is to improve services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Alabama through leadership, advocacy, and education regarding best practices and public policy.
Our organization serves to unite the various ID/DD service providers throughout the state in order to standardize the training provided to direct support professionals, and to advocate for wage and accreditation legislation, providing an overall improvement to the quality of care received by ID/DD individuals.
Shared Vision and Common Goals
- Adequate funding to provide quality services and to pay a living wage to Direct Support Professionals.
- Standardized training curriculum for all DSPs to ensure competency of skills and quality of care.
- Collaboration with Alabama DMH to update current regulations/Administrative code for relevance to community based services.
- Promote the value of ID/DD community based services and economic impact of services to our local communities and legislators.
